William O. Minter

William (Bill) O. Minter, Jr, passed away on May 12, 2018 at the age 90 after a long illness. He was born in Richmond, VA and raised in West Hartford, CT. He lived in Maine and later moved to Dover, NJ in 1955 working for The Phoenix Insurance Company. He later moved to Morris Plains, Duluth GA, and Bel Air, MD before moving back to NJ settling in Chester in 2005. Bill served in the US Army between WWII and the Korean War and after returning home to CT, attended VMI and Trinity College in CT. He later worked in the Insurance Industry his entire life on both the Company and Agency side. He retired from Traber Vreeland in Randolph as VP in 1993. He served as President of the Independent Insurance Agents Association of Morris County. He also served as VP, President and Chairman of the Board of the Independent Insurance Agents of New Jersey. Bill was also active in the Morristown Exchange Club, Blue Goose International, the Masons and the Lions Club both in Bel Air, MD and Chester, NJ. He leaves behind his wife of 36 years, Jeri; 2 children, daughter Gayeann Minter-Larson and her husband Donald of Brielle, NJ; son Scott Minter and his wife Susan of Reading, PA and 2 step-children; Shannon Leckie and her husband James of Chester, NJ and Robert Lender and his wife Kelly of Hayes, VA. He also leaves behind 5 beloved grandchildren: Taylor Larson, Tanner Larson, Jace Leckie, Ryder Leckie and Nick Sinopoli as well as his sister, Mary Lee Goode of VA Beach, VA. Bill was a lifelong member of the Episcopal church and was active in St. Bernards Episcopal Church in Bernardsville, NJ until his illness. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 10:30 AM at St. Bernards Church in Bernardsville, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bills memory to Friends of the Randolph Animal Pound, c/o Health Dept. Randolph Town Hall, 502 Millbrook Ave., Randolph, NJ 07869 or to St. Bernards Episcopal Church 88 Claremont Road, Bernardsville, NJ 07924.
