Warren Thomas Dickerson Sr., aged 76, fell asleep in death on October 6, 2026 at his home in Long Branch, NJ. He was surrounded by his loving family during his final moments.
Warren was born in Jersey City, NJ on December 20,1949, but spent his life in Long Branch. He received his bachelor’s degree in English from Bloomfield College in 1972. He began his 38-year career as a teacher of English, and later of computers, at Long Branch Middle School (LBMS) in 1972. During his tenure at LBMS, Warren’s love of technology flourished and he founded the school’s computer club and advised the newspaper club. He officially retired from teaching in 2011.
Warren’s thirst for knowledge sparked his interest in learning more about God’s promises for the future. In 1975, Warren and his wife, Loretta, were baptized as Jehovah’s Witnesses. Together they raised their growing family in the faith. Warren was an avid reader of the Bible, loved teaching others about Jehovah God’s promises in the ministry work, and served as an elder in the Central Long Branch congregation.
Warren loved jazz music, card games, talking about sports with his sons, puzzles, and Dad jokes. He also enjoyed fishing, grilling, playing pool and learning new things. But most of all he loved his family, teaching others, and his work in the congregation. He was known by many to always have a kind smile and helpful advice. His family and friends are looking forward to spending time with him again soon.
Warren was a devoted husband to Loretta Dickerson for 55 years, and a loving father to his children, Warren Thomas Dickerson Jr. and his wife, Chandiss; Kevin George Dickerson and his wife, Marnessa; and Bethany Leah Dickerson. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Brenda German, Sheila German, and Sharon German, a host of nieces, nephews, honorary sons and daughters, and his best friend, James Gresham. Warren was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Hilda Dickerson, his brother, Dr. Charles Howard Dickerson III, and his sister-in-law, Beverly Turpin.
Warren’s legacy is his faith, his family, and his love for helping others. While he is now resting, his impact can be seen in the hearts and comments of everyone he knew.
