Walter L. Church, Jr.

Walter L. Church, Jr., 82, of Neptune and Tega Cay, SC, passed away Monday, July 31st. Walter will always be remembered standing behind his custom built bar holding court and sipping his perfect Manhattan. With flashing blue eyes and a dry sense of humor, he would tell a story or offer sage advice. Nattily dressed in hat and suspenders, he was the most loving, generous and loyal husband, father and friend. A proud navy veteran and a member of the Delta Sigma Pi fraternity, Walter worked at Fort Monmouth before retiring as a budget analyst in 2000. Walter is survived by his wife of 55 years, Emma (Perez); daughter Stefanie (Greg) Nies of Wall; two sons, Walter III (Tara) Church of Island Heights and James (Steven) Church, Tega Cay, SC; and grandchildren, Walter IV, Shane, Colin, Kelsey, Sophia, Eleanora and Theodore. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, August 4th from 1-5pm at the home of Emma Church, Neptune. Memorial donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project.
