Thomas George Michlik, 63, of Manasquan, passed away Friday, September 19, 2014 at home. He was a kind, loving, and devoted father, husband, brother, uncle, and friend who will be forever missed by his innumerable friends and family. His sense of humor and gregarious nature brightened the lives of everyone he knew.
A lifelong New Jersey resident, Tom was born and raised in Trenton and graduated from Trenton High. He attended Trenton State College (now TCNJ) where he received his bachelor’s degree in Political Science. His career was made in communication and information technology sales, and he spent considerable time traveling inside and outside the US as a result, always returning home with interesting and amusing stories of his visits. While he pursued opportunities at multiple technology companies, his longest in tenure was at Siemens AG in the communications department, where he worked for close to 20 years. Most recently he was employed as an account manager for Global Industrial in Robbinsville.
Tom was an avid karate enthusiast and had been a member of the Japanese Karate Association (JKA) since the age of 19, attaining a fifth degree black belt through decades of dedication. Karate was more than just a sport to him, but rather a true way of life, and many of the friendships he maintained throughout his life were with those he met through the JKA. Besides karate, Tom’s spare time was often occupied with computer programming, watching the History Channel, or spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving him are his wife Mary Beth Michlik, his daughters and sons in law, Jessie and Mike Tucker of Whippany and Sarah and Bill Matthews of Davenport, NY, his brother Martin Michlik of Alexandria, VA, his sisters Connie Wood of Columbia, MD and Lois Katz and her husband Dan of Australia, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
A gathering to celebrate Tom’s life will be held on Thursday, September 25th from 5 to 7 pm at the Grafton House, located behind Hamilton Marketplace at 110 Edgebrook Rd, Hamilton, NJ 08691. Refreshments will be served
