Thomas Charles Mercadante, 100, Belmar, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2025, surrounded by family.
Tom was a WW II Veteran and served in the 37th Motor Vehicle Assembly and M-1 Rifles. He received various Honorary Medals for campaigns throughout Europe including “Good Conduct”. Tom had a lifetime career with South Orange Fire Department until his retirement as “Captain”; and “Fire Inspector” in 1995. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Society and K of C.
Tom is survived by his sons, Joseph (Denice) of Mahwah, Stephen (Nancy) of Middletown, his daughter Geralyn and his loving grandchildren Ariana and Garrett. Also survived by daughter-in law Linda of WA. Predeceased by his childhood sweetheart, wife Rose. They were married 70 years (until Rose’s passing in 2017) and raised four children in South Orange. Also predeceased by son Thomas Craig (2015).
A funeral mass will be held at Saint Mary Mother of God Church, Middletown N.J. on January 16, 2025 at 10:00am.
