Stephen Mathew Butynes

Stephen M. Butynes, 69, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025, in Old Bridge Township, New Jersey.

Stephen M. Butynes was born on January 4, 1956, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, to Stephen Butynes and Alice C. Mitchell. After graduating from Kean College, Stephen went on to pursue a master’s degree in counseling from the University of New Mexico.

Stephen was a talented abstract painter whose creative mind brought a unique perspective to his work. Each of his paintings captured his wit and outlook on life, reflecting the depth of his character. Art was his passion, and those who knew him appreciated the way he expressed himself through color and form.

Stephen was a loving father to his daughters, Alexandra Abyaneh (Butynes) and Gabrielle Butynes. He is also survived by his brother Theodore Butynes.

No formal services are planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring his memory by offering support to someone in need or spending time with those you care about. Time is the most precious thing we have. A donation to an art charity of your choice is also appreciated.
