Stefania White

March 4, 1927 — January 24, 2024

Stefania White, 96, passed away peacefully at home in Long Branch on January 24th, 2024 surrounded by family and friends.

Born in rural Poland in 1927, she was a World War II survivor. At the age of 14, she was separated from her parents by the Nazis. Cold and barefooted she was forced marched into Germany. There she was used as a slave field worker until being liberated by Allied soldiers. She would often share stories of both cruelty and acts of kindness extended to her by strangers during that time. Following the war and a convalescent stay for malnutrition, she married and moved to the US.

As a military spouse, she relocated many times along with her children, having lived in Massachusetts, Maryland, Alaska, North Carolina, Georgia, and twice in Thailand. She moved to, and settled permanently in Long Branch over 50 years ago.

A hard worker with a strict work ethic, she held many positions during her life, mostly in nursing facilities. Her final position before retiring was a circuit board assembly person at Concurrent Computer Corporation in West Long Branch.

In her spare time, she could be found tending her expansive vegetable garden. Along side her, her long time faithful canine companion, Pee Wee.

Her exceptional strength, determination and endurance as shaped by her life experiences, were admired by all who met her.

She is survived by her four children: Agnes Stedman of North Port, Florida, Robert White, Jr. of Ewing Township, John White of Colts Neck and Steve White of Holmdel. As well as their extended families.

Private cremation services are being handled by Jersey Shore Cremation Service, Manasquan. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Monmouth County SPCA.
