Stacy B. Stockton, Jr. died peacefully at his home in Ship Bottom New Jersey, surrounded by his family on December 11, 2025.
Stacy was born in Pemberton Borough, New Jersey on September 30th 1928. He was the only child of Stacy, Sr. and Hannah Haines Stockton, the oldest of 17 children. Stacy was raised with all of his aunts and uncles by his grandparents,Thomas and Elizabeth Haines.
His first job was working the counter at the local luncheonette. He became president of his Pemberton High School class of 1946 and was later inducted into the Pemberton Hall of Fame.
In 1959, with a wife and 4 children to raise, he founded Stockton and Dull Construction Company with Harry Dull while taking courses at Camden County Community College at night. Stacy was a custom builder with a creative knack for restoring historic homes throughout Burlington County. He also built one of the first solar homes in New Jersey (Lumberton) and installed pumping stations for cranberry bogs owned by JJ White Inc. in Whites Bogs.
He took great pride in moving a log cabin, built in 1752, the oldest in Burlington County, log by log from Magnolia Road in Pemberton Township to New Lisbon. His oldest son, Stacy A., later joined the company when it became Stockton Construction Company.
His greatest joy was spending time with his family, particularly fishing and boating. For more than 50 years, he traveled to Seeley’s Bay Ontario with his children, grandchildren, family and friends. He also enjoyed boating on Barnegat Bay; teaching his children and grandchildren how to fish and water ski, and catching sunsets at the end of the day.
Stacy was dedicated to giving back to the community. In Pemberton he was a member of the Goodwill Fire Company, town councilman, school board member, a past president of Rotary Club, a Paul Harris Fellow; and served 75 years as a Free and Accepted Mason. He was also a founding member of St Mark Lutheran Church. In Ship Bottom he was vice chair of the Land Use Board and headed the construction committee at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Brant Beach. He later became a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Barnegat Light.
Stacy is survived by his wife of 75 years, Anna, (Jackie)nee Kellenbenz of Philadelphia; Four children; Stacy A. (Millee); Jaclyn Stockton-Sooy (Gary); Thomas Haines (Teresa); and Alice Stockton-Rossini (Giovanni); seven grandchildren; Thom John Sooy; Rachel Sooy; Peter Sooy; Giovanni Alexander Stockton-Rossini; Domenico Jacob Stockton-Rossini; William Stacy Stockton; and Andrew Thomas Haines Stockton; along with six great grandchildren; Sean Sooy; Clare Sooy; Sabrina Sooy; Elliot Rossini; Luciana Rossini; and Olive Rossini.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Stacy’s life on Saturday, December 20th at Zion Lutheran Church 1802 Central Ave., Barnegat Light, NJ. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Memorial Service will begin at 11 a.m.
