Sophie V. Peedell

Sophie Peedell — Of Oakhurst NJ was born in New York City in 1924. She is predeceased by her parents Edmond & Freda Stern and her husband of 39 years, Frederick Peedell in 1982, her daughter Diane Peedell Rubano in 1988 and her son Dennis Peedell in 2010. Her brother George & Pat Stern, Virgina. During World War Il, Sophie met her future husband Freddy while he was stationed in Asbury Park and enlisted in the British Royal Navy. They were married on October 10th 1943 in Asbury Park and moved to London from 1944-1946 where their first child Diane was born in 1945 during the war. After the war they settled in Asbury Park from 1946 — 1961 and moved to Oakhurst in 1961 to present. Sophie was a waitress for most of her life. She worked at the Berkeley-Carteret in Asbury Park from 1947-1960. Sophie worked at the Monmouth Park Race in Oceanport from 1971 — 2015, where she had many loyal customers. She retired at 91 years old. Sophie is survived by her son John Peedell and Fran Marra, Oakhurst, her granddaughter Deanna Rubano & Ron Odom, Chandler, Arizona, grandson John Rubano & Lisa Thierman, Ft. Lee, granddaughter Breanne Carlson of Bricktown, granddaughter Nina Wikfors, Ocala, FL, John Marra of Ocean Township and 5 great grandchildren.
