Sidney Riechelson

Sidney Riechelson, 88, of Freehold NJ passed away peacefully on Friday, March 7, 2025 at The Jewish Home for Rehabilitation & Nursing where he resided for the last 4 years.

Sidney was born on August 8, 1936 in Brooklyn NY to Morris and Frances Riechelson. He and his brother Richard were put in Foster care at a very early age and were moved around frequently. After serving in Vietnam, he ultimately made his career in the carpet industry.

He was married twice, First to Gloria Frank, and they had 2 children Shari and Kevin. His Second marriage was to Eileen Chalnick, and they had 3 children Shawn, Dan and Matthew. From his 5 children Sidney was blessed with 8 grandchildren. After his second marriage ended Sidney found love with his long time “fiance” Diane Hyman who he was with for over 35 years. He loved spending time with Diane’s daughter Felice and her daughter Madison.

His interests included napping, caring for his cats, watching TV and the New York Mets. The family would like to express their gratitude to the caregivers and medical staff at The Jewish Home for their compassionate care over the years.

Sidney was a caring father and grandfather who found joy in the joy that surrounded him, whether it be his children, grandchildren, friends or family, May his love of life and memory live on forever.

Services are entrusted to Jersey Shore Cremation, 43 Taylor Avenue, Manasquan, NJ.
