Samuel E Grabfelder (Sam), age 85, passed away on Thursday, September 29th. Born in Manhattan, he later resided in Brooklyn, then Queens, until he moved to "the suburbs", Aberdeen, NJ in 1972, where he resided ever since.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60+ years, Judy (Geier)Grabfelder; three daughters, Robin, Ronni, and Erica; sons'-in-law, Sergio and Bear; grandchildren, Kira, Ariana, Jade and Devyn; great grandchildren, Hailey, Emily, and Brea; sister Lynn and cousins Carol and Rica; his wife's sister, Rosalie, and her children Holli and Alan, and their families; his two cherished cats, who brought him great joy his last couple of years, Nimoy and Bardot; and many, many more close friends and loved ones.
A 1968 graduate of RCA Technical School, Sam served in the US Navy during the Korean War where he received the Navy Occupation Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and a Good Conduct Medal. He loved golfing and was a lifelong Yankee Baseball and Giants Football fan; he especially loved watching football with his son-in-law Sergio, and going to the baseball games with his nephew Alan. What he loved more than anything was spending time with loved ones; Sam's family was his world. His devotion to them was unequaled and unwavering. He will forever be missed by all.
Sam had a healthy perspective on life; he always said, "I don't want what I can't have." And his sense of humor never faltered; more than once he told his family his headstone should read, "Now who is going to take out the garbage?" It's okay, Sam, we've got it covered.
