Sally G. Parsons passed away on Wed, Nov 16 from natural causes at her home in Seabrook Village in Tinton Falls, just shy of her 93rd birthday. Sally was born in Havana Cuba in 1923, but grew up in Brooklyn and Long Island. In 1944, Sally joined the new United States Marine Corps Women's Reserve. In 1952 Sally married Terry Parsons, her husband for 59 years until his death in 2011. Sally and Terry are survived by four of five children, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Following her life-long love of fine art, she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art History from Douglass College in 1981. She volunteered in schools as a "picture lady" introducing children to great works of art and how to view them. In later years, Sally worked for a Long Branch non-profit and then as a legal secretary in Rumson. An active Episcopalian, Sally volunteered in many capacities but most recently at the Calico Cat Thrift Shoppe, whose mission supports The Community Outreach group, an organization helping low income families in need.
Sally also enjoyed singing, acting and being involved in the performing arts. She was a friendly and outgoing person, who developed many close friendships over her lifetime and will be missed by many. She lived a long and full life and her family is grateful to her.
Memorial service for Sally will be held on December 10 at 11am, at the Trinity Episcopal Church 503 Asbury Ave, Asbury Park, NJ. A Reception will follow at Seabrook Village, The Gardens.
