Ruth Ramsdell, 96 of Spring Lake Heights, passed away February 23 at home surrounded by family.
Ruth was born Ruth Helen Layton in Allenwood, NJ in 1924 and raised in Manasquan. She graduated from Manasquan High School in 1942. She worked for NJ Bell Telephone and at Camp Evans. She later worked as a meat wrapper for Grand Union in Manasquan and other locations throughout NJ. She was a member of Union 464A.
After retiring, Ruth enjoyed trips to Atlantic City, walking the beach, playing Santa’s elf during the holidays, making candy and spending time with her grandchildren as Grammy Ruth. She spent most of her life attending Friends Meeting in Manasquan and enjoyed helping at the Quaker Fair. She also traveled to El Salvador in 2003 with Habitat for Humanity to help build a home.
Ruthie will always be remembered by her friends and family as someone who was feisty and determined but never had an unkind word to say about anyone.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband Nelson in 1990, as well as her parents Jake and Laura Layton, her sisters Frances, Mary Jane, Doris and her brother Albert Jr. (Bub).
She is survived by her son Jeffrey and his wife Linda of Seattle, her son Timothy of Spring Lake Heights, her granddaughter Kirsten of Seattle, and her grandson Joshua who is stationed at Ft. Campbell, KY. , as well as many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be planned in the future.
