Rui Manuel Conceicao

After a battle with glioblastoma multiforme, Rui Conceicao passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his friends and family, on the morning of February 21, 2018. Rui was born in Casal Velho, Portugal, on October 19, 1964, lived in France during his grade school years, and moved to the United States in 1978, where he completed his high school education at Long Branch High School in Long Branch, New Jersey in 1983. Rui was a prolific futbol player and played competitively in high school, then went on to play on full scholarship at Philadelphia Textile University. His passions in life were soccer, cars, motorcycles, Pink Floyd, Sporting Clube de Portugal, the Philadelphia Eagles, and good laughs.
Rui is predeceased by his father, Martin R. Conceicao and survived by his wife, Marites, and his children, Shane and Kayla. He is also survived by family from his mothers side: loving mother Amelia Conceicao, sisters Tila Silva and Zelia Ferreira, Isabelle M. Ferreira and Fabiula Silva, his nieces Isabelle A. Ferreira, Brittany Silva, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins throughout the world in Portugal, France, Venezuela, South Africa, Australia, and United States.
On his wifes side, he is survived by his in laws Nelson and Zenaida Valdivia, Roberto And Cherry Valdivia, Ramon and Peggy Valdivia , Marichelle and Marino Rocha, nephews and nieces.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass on Saturday February 24, 2018 11:00 am at Star of the Sea Church, 101 Chelsea Avenue, Long Branch.
Following the mass, friends and family are invited to come celebrate his life at the Long Branch Portuguese Club, 191 Broadway, Long Branch at 1:00 pm. Light refreshments will be offered. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Ruis name to the American Brain Tumor Association, or a charity of your choice, as to give much is to receive much.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude to all those family and friends who offered a shoulder or hand of support during these difficult times. They are eternally grateful for those who remembered them.
