Robin Reid Van Sickle

October 1, 1952 — February 24, 2022

Robin Reid Van Sickle 69 of Wall Township passed away on Thursday February 24, 2022 peacefully at home with John by her side. Robin was born at the Toms River maternity hospital to Joyce and Calvin Reid of Freehold. As a child being raised on her parents farm the early years were spent playing with age mates who were children of farm employees. She recalled sorting and bagging potatoes when she was a bit older. Robin received her early education in Freehold and was a member of the Color Guard and band at Freehold High School. Upon graduation she attended Ryder College where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce. Robin gained employment as an accountant at Frequency Engineering Laboratories (FEL) in Farmingdale. She loved her job and loved working. FEL placed high value on education and at company expense Robin enrolled in the MBA program at Monmouth College. During her studies at Monmouth she met John Van Sickle when they were paired for a class project. It was the beginning of a partnership that would last more than 37 years. They married in August of 1984 before graduating with Masters degrees in January of 1985.Robin loved travel, stock car races, golf and sailing. Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in the early 1990s she gradually lost the ability to accurately perform her job and was placed on disability. Over the ensuing decades the disease, complicated by a massive stroke, progressed… gradually taking with it the activities she so enjoyed. Robin never bemoaned her fate or complained of pain even in the most trying of circumstances.
