Robert Oliveri

Robert Oliveri, 80 formerly of Neptune, died on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015, at the home of his daughter Terry Neaves after his battle with cancer. Bob was born Feb. 4, 1935 in New Brunswick to Albert and Lillian (nee Salvi) Oliveri - one of 11 siblings. He joined the Army as a Heavy Weapons Infantryman and was stationed with the 50th Infantry, II Corps, in Wildflecken, Germany where he met and married Irene Maria Gundelach on May 10, 1958. On his return to the USA, Bob, then a Sergeant, was honorably discharged and settled in Neptune where he raised his family of 5 children and opened the Oliveri and Son's Produce Store in Point Pleasant. Bob and Irene retired from the produce business to Hudson, FL. His wife of 49 years predeceased him on Feb. 7, 2008. Bob is survived by his daughters Renate and husband John Milton of Fairfax, VA; Roswitha Swatton of Hightstown; Terry and husband James Neaves; and his sons Robert Charles of Hudson, FL and Eugene and wife Jennifer of Toms River. Additionally he is survived by sisters, Phyllis of Spring Hill, FL and Louise of Easton, PA, and brother, Anthony of Toms River, 10 grandchildren ,5 great-grandchildren, and cousins Frankie and Miriam. Viewing will be held Monday, Aug. 10 from 4 to 6:00 p.m., with a Celebration of Life Service at 6:30 p.m. at the OCEAN GROVE MEMORIAL HOME, 118 Main Ave., Ocean Grove, Burial will be at the Bg. General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown at a later date.
