Robert "Bob" Joseph Greene, 80, of Spring Lake Heights, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2024, surrounded by loved ones.
Bob spent his career as a banker in the surrounding New Jersey and New York area, helping people with financial choices and helping his fellow community members. While Bob worked in financial services, his passion was basketball. After playing for his high school, Power Memorial Academy in New York City, he went on to receive a scholarship to Saint Michael's College in Santa Fe, New Mexico where he continued playing basketball for the school. His love of basketball continued throughout his whole life.
The beach was another one of Bob's passions. He would spend time with his family enjoying the beautiful shores of New Jersey. The times he spent on the beach with his children, grandchildren, and sister were his favorite days. While Bob loved basketball and spending time at the beach, nothing compared to his enjoyment at spending time with his grandchildren and watching them play sports and participate in team activities.
Bob served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. Making a heroic decision to enlist in the Marines in an effort to better the world and to provide stability and safety for his country.
Bob is predeceased by Elizabeth “Bette” Greene, with whom he was married to and had three children, and Janice Fischer, his sister. He is survived by his three children, Timothy Greene and his wife, Mia; Bryan Greene and his wife, Bridget; and Amanda Toney and her husband, Frank. Robert also leaves behind five beloved grandchildren, Patrick, Emma, Frank Jr., Jack, and AJ. He also leaves behind a sister, Patricia Greene, of Staten Island, New York.
There will be a mass and celebration of life for Bob at St. Denis Church in Manasquan, New Jersey, on July 26, 2025 at 12:30pm. After the mass the family will be receiving visitors at The Irish Rail in Manasquan, from 2pm - 4pm for a luncheon. In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor can be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society https://givenow.lls.org/.
