Robert L. Engler, Jr.

Robert Lee Engler Jr., 83, of Brielle, passed away on Friday, September 9, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Born to Jean and Robert Lee Engler in 1933, Robert Jr. (“Bob”) was raised in Short Hills, NJ where he graduated from Millburn High School in 1952. Bob attended the University of Pennsylvania and graduated from the Wharton School of Business in 1958. He was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. Bob married his true love of 60 years, Sandra Engler in August of 1956. Together Bob and Sandy lived in Philadelphia, PA, and Elizabeth, NJ before moving to Brielle in 1959. Bob began his early career in the building industry with Engler Millwork, a family-owned business. He then went onto work for Reynolds Aluminum, where he remained until he started his own business, Engler Associates, in 1982 representing building supply manufacturers. He was proud to have his son, Robert L. Engler III, take over Engler Associates prior to his retirement. Bob loved to travel, and he enjoyed spending time at both the Manasquan River Golf Club and Manasquan River Yacht Club. Bob was very devout and an active member of The Church of Brielle where he served as Deacon, and later as Elder for several terms. He was an avid fisherman and a beloved member of the community at his dock on the Glimmer Glass. But above all, Bob adored his wife and family, all of whom will miss him dearly. Bob is survived by his devoted wife, Sandy; daughter Robin Hackett & husband Thomas of Brielle; son Robert L. Engler III & his wife Laura of Manasquan; and daughter Beth Engler Smith & husband Timothy of Brielle, brother Noel M. Engler and wife Dieta of Englewood, FL. Bob also leaves his cherished grandchildren, Ryan, Stephen, Tyler, Emily, Eric, Sophie, Evan, and Grant. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016 at The Church in Brielle. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Church in Brielle, 821 Riverview Drive, Brielle, NJ 08730 may be made in his honor.
