Robert William Elliott

May 8, 1940 — May 2, 2025

With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Robert William Elliott, who left us peacefully on May 2, 2025, just shy of his 85th birthday. He was a beloved husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.

Born on May 8, 1940, to William and Hazel Elliott (née Epworth), Robert was raised in Nutley, New Jersey, where he created many cherished boyhood memories that he held close throughout his life. He was a proud graduate of Belleville High School, Class of 1958. His academic dedication led him to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Adelphi University on August 31, 1984, graduating magna cum laude. In recognition of his academic excellence, he was admitted to Delta Tau Alpha Honor Society.

Robert began his professional journey as a manager at Acme Markets before embarking on a long and distinguished career with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. From June 6, 1973, to December 31, 1996, he served as Supervisor of Operations, dedicating over two decades to the transportation industry.

Robert had many passions that brought him joy, including walking, gardening, trout fishing, traveling, and savoring fine cuisine. However, his greatest love was always his family. His deep devotion to his wife Veronica Elliott and his entire family was unwavering. Robert was the heart of every gathering, known for his joy in singing, storytelling, warm conversation, and, of course, his unforgettable dad jokes.

He is survived by his loving wife, Veronica Elliott; daughters Donna Minneci (Jack Minneci) and Sandra Elliott; stepdaughter Melissa Perez (Manuel Perez); grandchildren Jessi-Lynn Minneci Wood (Evan Wood), Patrick Elliott Minneci, Alissa Schweitzer (Matt Schweitzer), Arielle Sestito (Anthony Sestito), and Alana Perez; and great-granddaughters Noel Schweitzer and Valentina Sestito.

Robert's legacy of love, laughter, and dedication will continue to live on through the many lives he touched. He will be missed more than words can express.
