It is with a heavy heart that the surviving members of the Crouse Family share the news of the passing of Robert James Crouse on May 12, 2020. Robert was a son, husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, a Marine, small business entrepreneur, a Boy Scout leader, a genealogist, a Boston Red Sox fan and a friend to many.
Robert lived an extraordinary life. He excelled in school at Bloomfield High School, served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Marine Corp, continued his education by attending Seton Hall, started his own business and was the CEO and Founder of the Mayrac Corporation.
Robert was devoted and always faithful (Semper Fidelis) to his family. He was born to parents Howard and Mary Dorothy Crouse on October 21, 1931, in East Orange, NJ. He was brother to Patricia Ann (Crouse) Hreha. Robert was married to his loving wife and best friend, Mary Ann Crouse, for 67 wonderful years and together for 71 years. Robert was a loving father to seven wild and crazy kids, Michael, Debbie, Mary Beth, Robin, Howard, Dorothy, and Jenny. And, with that said, Robert had 33 grand children, 31 great-grand children and, yes, one great-great grandchild which is the Crouse family that he cared about his entire life.
Like many, Robert had his ups and downs along the way. But with the continued support of his wife, Mary Ann, they always found a way make their lives and the lives of their family and others around them better.
Robert had a great work ethic, always learning and teaching along the way. He shared whatever he had with others, especially those who needed it more than he did. He loved his God, his country, his family and the Red Sox. He loved reading books on history and religion, doing puzzles, watching sports and old movies. Being around his family and watching his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren grow was always a thrill for him as they always put a smile on his face.
He was a self-made genealogist and worked hard over the years to define the Crouse Family Tree for the rest of us to take care of, watch over and to nourish it so it continues to grow. And last but not least, he enjoyed a good Martin, or two
every once in a while.
Robert suffered several heartbreaks during his life, with the passing of his Father, Howard C. Crouse, Mother, Mary Dorothy (Mooney) Crouse, his Mother-in-Law, Harriett Yuill, his sister, Patricia Hreha, his oldest Daughter, Deborah Ann Crouse, his 1stGrand Daughter Sherry Lynn Crouse and his favorite pet dogs, Sorrowful and Boomer.
Robert is survived by his Wife Mary Ann Crouse, his Children Michael J. Crouse and his wife Brenda Crouse, Mary Beth Warhurst and her Husband Allan Warhurst. Robin Wicks and her husband Arnold Wicks, Howard Crouse and his wife Cindy Vernotico-Crouse, Dorothy Heil and her husband David Heil, Jenny Murray her husband Bob Murray and thirty-three (33) Grandchildren, thirty-one (31) Great-Grandchildren and one (1) Great, Great Grandchild who will carry on in Roberts memory.
The Crouse Family will have a "Celebration of Life" Service for Robert at the Saint Uriel the Archangel Church located at 219 Philadelphia Blvd, Sea Girt, NJ 08750 sometime in the near future once the Public Health Emergency is lifted or conditions permit. This will give Roberts family and friends an opportunity to gather to share our favorite memories and tell stories, sharing in laughter and tears, and simply celebrating the life that was lived by Robert James Crouse.
Funeral Services are entrusted to Jersey Shore Cremation, Manasquan, NJ.
