In Loving Memory of Robert “Bob” James Trainor
November 3, 1940 - July 25, 2024
We honor and celebrate the life of Robert “Bob” James Trainor, who left us on July 25, 2024, at the age of 83. Born in Jersey City and raised in Bayonne, Bob was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend whose life was a testament to warmth, humor, generosity, loyalty, and love.
Bob's journey took him from his early years in Bayonne to Hillside, where he met the love of his life and best friend, Pat. They eventually moved to Point Pleasant where Bob established Trainor Industries, proudly employing many of his friends and family.
Bob was a successful salesman and a passionate entrepreneur. He was known for his larger-than-life personality and his ability to light up any room he entered. Bob's infectious smile and warm presence were matched only by his incredible sense of humor, always ready with a joke for family, friends, and anyone who would listen.
Bob's enthusiasm extended beyond his personal relationships to his love for sports. He was an exceptional athlete and fierce competitor. He took great joy in cheering for his children and grandchildren. He was a die-hard NY Giants and Yankees fan!
Bob is survived by his wife, Pat, and his three children Susan and Chip Gahr, Bob and Nicole Trainor and her children Jaylyn and Brianna, and Marcy Lipka and her partner Ray Jazikoff. His pride and joy were his grandchildren—Shawn, Meghan, Ashley and her husband Joe, Dane, and Matthew—each of whom brought immense happiness to his life. Also surviving Bob are his sisters-in-law Valerie Jager, JoAnn Jager, Louise Trainor, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, William and Catherine, and his best friends, his brother Richie and his brothers-in-law Don and Pete Jager.
Bob's legacy is one of love, laughter, and devotion. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends, a constant reminder of a life well-lived and a spirit that brought joy to all who knew him.
A private celebration of life will be held for the family.
