Richard Malick

October 27, 1942 — May 21, 2024

Richard Malick, 81, born in Long Branch and raised in Spring Lake Heights passed away peacefully on May 21, 2024. Richard graduated from Wall Township High School where he ran track for four years. He then worked many years for The Daily Record newspaper, and eventually as a dedicated and loyal public works employee in Spring Lake Heights until retirement. Richard was unwilling to drive so his primary modes of transportation were bus, trains, and feet. He met his wife, Mary, in church, and many times he would walk from the Heights to east Freehold to visit her. He eventually married and had two daughters, Nancy and Melissa. Richard is survived by his 2 daughters and his brothers Elwood (MaryBeth) and Harvey (Joella). His uniqueness was appealing and humorous to those who knew and loved him while strangers may have seen hints of a curmudgeon. His morning routines always included walking for a 7-11 coffee and a buttered hard roll along with the sports pages. Richard was a diehard long-time suffering Mets fan, who in his last few years had lost hope in them. He was also an avid believer in feng shui, even though he had no clue what it was.

Richard was predeceased by his wife, Mary, his brothers Bill and Roger, and his parents Harvey and Estella. He now joins them all in the hereafter where we are certain his mom will be the first to welcome him.

Services are private. To send condolences to the family please send to Box 157, Allenwood, NJ 08720 . In memory of Richard, the family requests that everyone go for a long quiet peaceful walk and admire our world, and maybe listen to a Mets game.

Services are entrusted to Jersey Shore Cremation, 43 Taylor Avenue, Manasquan, NJ.
