Richard Anthony Cordasco, Jr., known to those who loved him as “Ricky” passed away on May 1st at the age of 73. Born in Newark, New Jersey, and a lifelong resident of Shrewsbury Borough, Rick lived a life defined by an exceptional mind, a deeply passionate spirit, and an unforgettable presence.
A gifted electrical engineer, who earned his degree in 1978 at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, where he was a proud member of Sigma Pi fraternity, Rick brought brilliance and intensity to everything he pursued. Those who knew him experienced firsthand the rare combination of intellectual richness and emotional depth that made him who he was.
Rick spent many years volunteering with the Shrewsbury EMS Squad, answering the call to serve his community. His dedication to that work reflected something essential about who he was — someone who showed up to help others in need.
The ocean called to Rick in a way it calls to few people. An avid scuba diver and sailor, he found something beneath the surface that matched his own depth. Rick found great joy in the sea and traveled a number of times to his beloved dive location on the island of Bonaire.
Rick is survived by his son, Daniel Cordasco and his wife, Kristen; his daughter, Lisa Cordasco and her husband, Ryan McIninch; his grandchildren Kiley, William, and Bennett Cordasco; his former wife, Donna Cordasco; and his sisters Linda Willis, Suzanne Atwood, and Janet Scott.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
