Richard A. Bartlett of Middletown, died on September 22, 2014. Richard was born in New York City.
Before entering grade school, his family moved to Little Silver and later to West Long Branch. He graduated from Christian Brothers Academy.
He received his bachelor's degree in Engineering Physics at Cornell University. He continued his education at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania where he received MS and PhD degrees in Engineering and Operations Research.
Richard was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1995. Shortly after his diagnosis, he retired from his long and varied career in the Bell System and subsequently worked at Call Sciences, a small startup company. In 2001, he left Call Sciences because of the ever advancing disabling effects of Parkinson's disease.
Richard is survived by his wife, Maureen; their daughter, Rebecca; and his three siblings, Robert Bartlett, Donald Bartlett and Jan Bartlett. A memorial service will be held for Richard on October 18, 2014 at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Holmdel.
