Raymond Steven Schwartz, 75, of Union Beach, passed away peacefully at Riverview Medical Center on April 7th, 2026, surrounded by family, after a short but tough battle with cancer.

Ray Schwartz was born on August 8th, 1950, in Newark, NJ, to Julius and Isabelle Schwartz. In 1969, Ray enlisted in the US Navy and served his country on the USS Joseph P. Kennedy for 6 years. After serving, Ray went on to work at UPS for many years, among several other odd jobs, before settling into an independent contractor delivery driver role for over 30 years.

Outside of work, Ray was a champion bowler and an avid fan and collector of Yankees baseball. He loved his family deeply, was the life of the party among his friends, and was known for his wicked sense of humor and the kindness he kept hidden behind his prickly exterior.

Ray was a devoted father to Albert, Anthony, Lisa, and Gregory, and a beloved grandfather to Lyric, Atom, Asher, and Ayden. He is also survived by his brothers John, James, and Robert, and sister Marion, and was preceded in death by his wife Pamela and son Adam.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, April 10th, at 5 pm at the Union Beach Fire Co. 1 in Union Beach. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to their GoFundMe, or to LetsFCancer.com.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff of the Jane Booker Cancer Center wing of Riverview for their compassionate care. Raymond made an impact on everyone he met and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
