Peter Michael Merz

Peter Michael Merz, 75, passed away on March 26, 2024. Peter was a resident of ARC supervised living in Bergen County for the last 32 years. ARC provided Peter with many opportunities and experiences, enabling him to live his life to the fullest. He loved to socialize, dance at Canteen, relax and watch old westerns, and attend summer camp along with his housemates: Steven, Marie, Kathy, and Sarah. He enjoyed going to the Bergen Activities Center daily, which he fondly referred to as work.

Peter is predeceased by his sister Florence Tagliarini and her family, sister, Victoria Leonard, and brother-in-law, Gary Brennan. Most importantly, Peter will be laid to rest with his parents, Jenny and Michael Merz. He is survived by his sisters Helen Brennan and Eva Librizzi, brother-in-law Salvatore Librizzi, his nieces and nephews and their families: Salvatore M. Librizzi; Erika and Ian Aronsson; Ursula, Erik and Iris Fawcett; Linda and Daniel Costa and family; Michele and Lisa Tribiani and family.

Peter was deeply loved by his family and everyone who knew him. We will miss you, our Peter, a truly innocent soul.

Our family would like to thank ARC of Bergen County, including Lauren Vergara, Chyrisse Williams, Merlin, and all the supervisors and counselors who have cared for Peter over the years. We also extend our gratitude to Lisa Blumer and Dr. Morgan Lisa Molinari of Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, as well as Dr. Vialotti, Heidi, Alex, Mary, Jessica, Jenny, Irene, Sarah, Susan, and all the angels of Villa Marie Claire Hospice in Saddle River. A special thanks to Jersey Shore for all their guidance and support.
