Peter Chang

Peter Chang, age 97, died peacefully in his sleep at Bayshore Medical Center in Holmdel, NJ on March 24, 2021 after a brief hospitalization following a head trauma. He was born in Shanghai, China in 1924, and has led a long and mainly healthy life. His family credits his strong heart and healthy lifestyle for his longevity. Growing up Peter played soccer and throughout his life he stayed active. As an adult he played tennis and golf as often as he could, and he became a fan of watching both sports at live events as well as on TV. Peter took great pleasure in community living in Wall, NJ where he could regularly socialize with friends at the club house playing cards. While he was many things in his life, his favorite roles were as husband to Grace (Auyang), father to Willy (Sheila) and grandfather to Steven and Hannah. They gave him so much joy and immense pride. He made sure they knew his story of coming to the US as a near penniless immigrant, but who through sheer will, perseverance and a hard work ethic, was able to earn an MBA from NYU while working full time and eventually owning his own business. His family is grateful and will always be reminded of the example he set. Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
