Paul F. Ashley, 60, died early Saturday at Ocean Medical Center, Brick Twp.. He was born April 14, 1953 in Neptune and raised in Bay Head.
Paul lived with his wife, Peggy, in Point Pleasant Beach. Before briefly living in Stuart, FL, the Ashley's resided in Allenwood, Wall and Point Pleasant.
After graduating from Point Pleasant Beach High School, Paul graduated from Bates College in Lewiston Maine. Paul went to work with his father, Herb Ashley and became a co-owner of Surf Chevrolet in Point Pleasant and Ashley Chevrolet in Honesdale, PA. He was recently employed by Pine Belt Chevrolet in Lakewood.
As a lifelong member of the Bay Head Yacht Club, Paul enjoyed Paddle Tennis, boating and many a boat project. Hunting with his sons, gardening, fishing and spending time with his loving family were favorite activities.
A past president of the Point Pleasant Lions Club, Paul proudly started the local chapter of the Leo Club for young members. As chairman of the Point Pleasant Hospital and Ocean Medical Center Foundation Boards, Paul served the community helping to raise funds to improve healthcare in our area.
Paul leaves his beloved wife of 23 years, Peggy Anne (Brennan) Ashley and seven beloved children. Five children with the late Nancy MacGregor and two step-children: Thomas Ashley, Lauren Ashley, Paul J. Ashley and wife Jessica, Christopher Ashley and wife Alison, Ian Ashley and wife Jessica, Matthew S. Vitullo, LeighAnne (Vitullo) Castimore and husband Matthew. Paul was proud to be a grandfather to eight grandchildren: Cole and Lila Comisky, Amelia Ashley, Henry and Lolly Castimore, Logan Ashley, Parker Ashley, Liam Ashley and a little one on his/her way.
Paul is predeceased by his father Herbert Ashley.
Also surviving are his mother Shirley Johnson Ashley of Tyler Hill, PA., and his brothers Scott, Mark, Matthew and their wives of Tyler Hill, PA and Manasquan, and many loving nieces and nephews.
A gathering of friends and family to celebrate Paul's life will be held at Farrell's Stout & Steak in Point Pleasant Beach on Friday, February 7th at 3 PM.
