On Sunday, September 11th, Maureen Quinn, loving wife to Francis, mother to sons Frank and Terry, passed away peacefully at the age of 81. Maureen was born in 1941 in Jersey City and was raised in Bayonne and Union, NJ. She earned her teaching degree from Jersey City State University and spent her early years teaching in Evanston, Illinois and her later years at Holy Trinity Parochial School in Westfield. Maureen and Francis met in an Irish Pub in Spring Lake in 1965, married in 1967 and raised their two sons Frank and Terry in Westfield and Lavallette, NJ. Maureen loved to cook, entertain and was the ultimate hostess who loved a party. She had a passion for platters that never fit in the dishwasher, never stacked well or fit neatly into any cabinet. Not a party passed where she didn’t use Every. Single. Platter in the house! Maureen loved and lived for her four grandchildren – Jack (19), Ryan (16), Sydney (13) and Owen (11). Not a birthday would pass where they didn’t receive the largest, loudest and most disruptive toy she could find. Maureen was a very special person who was devoutly loyal to her friends and family, especially her youngest son Terry who is the taller, more charismatic, handsome and funnier of the two. Her passing was preceded by her mother Amelia, father Edward and brother Brian. She is survived by her husband Francis, son Frank and wife Lori, son Terry and wife Diane, sister Patricia MacDonnell and brother Edward Broderick.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Emmanouil Pappou M.D., of Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital and the Nursing Staff at MSKK in New York and Monmouth, NJ for giving us more time with her than we anticipated. We are eternally grateful to our family and friends for making her life so beautiful and full. She died as she lived, everyone’s friend.
A mass will be held on Friday, September 16th at 10am at Saint Helens Church of Westfield.
