Maureen M. Babo, nee McConville died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014, at home. Born in Jersey City, she resided in Little Silver for the past 41 years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Brian; her parents, James and Lucy McConville; her sisters, Mary Lou and Alice, brother James and nephew, James.
She is survived by her loving brother, Joseph and his wife Patricia; her sister-in-law, Maresa; her nieces, Mary Lou and Kristen and her nephew, Brendan. She enjoyed a special relationship with her nephews, Patrick Fermo and Kenneth Babo, his family and her best friend of 40 years, Carol Meyers.
Prior to her retirement, Maureen was the Chief Financial Officer for Family & Children Services, Long Branch. She enjoyed her part-time employment at the Red Bank YMCA where she was a long standing member. She was an avid reader, world traveler and follower of the arts. She enjoyed museums, the opera, and the theater both at home and internationally. Maureen inspired her great-nieces and nephew to follow in her footsteps by taking them on their first international trips and sharing countless cultural experiences with them. She ignited their interest in the sky and night constellations at an early age.
Maureen was a staunch donor of World Wildlife Funds, PETA and Doctors without Borders. She was beloved by her family and friends for her unfailing sense of humor, quiet dignity, calm presence and great acts of kindness. She treated all people not as they were, but as they could be.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29 at Saint James Catholic Church, Red Bank
