Mary Catherine Cullington

December 13, 1939 — January 11, 2024

Mary Catherine Cullington, a cherished mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away on January 11, 2024, in Freehold, NJ. Her journey came to a peaceful end at Mattison Crossing assisted living home, following a brave battle with Parkinson’s disease and its complications.

Born and raised in Jersey City, Mary was a proud alumna of Saint Dominic’s Academy. She spent the majority of her life in Monmouth and Ocean counties, working most of her adult life for AT&T before her retirement in 2000.

Mary's memory is lovingly carried on by her children: Michael DeVarti, Lisa Snook and her husband David, and Suzanne Martin. She was a proud grandmother to Anthony, Karen, Sydney, and Shane, who will miss her deeply.

Her bond with her siblings was a cornerstone of her life. She shared a special closeness with her sister, Catherine McIntyre, and brothers, Neil Flynn and his wife Judy, as well as John Flynn and his wife Linda. Their weekly FaceTime calls were a source of immense joy and comfort to her.

An enthusiastic bowler, Mary loved the sport and was a long-standing member of several bowling leagues. Her passion for bowling was matched by her love for family gatherings, with her hosting of Christmas Eve dinners being a cherished tradition.

Mary's post-retirement years were enriched by her enduring friendships with former AT&T colleagues, with whom she enjoyed monthly lunch meet-ups.

Her legacy of warmth, resilience, and the joy she found in simple pleasures will continue to inspire those who knew her. Mary Cathrine Cullington will be remembered not just for the battles she fought, but for the love, laughter, and strength she shared so generously.

Services are entrusted to Jersey Shore Cremation, 43 Taylor Avenue, Manasquan, NJ.
