Toms River, NJ

Born in Margaret Hague Hospital in Jersey City to George and Fay Schneider, Marilyn grew up in Jersey City with her parents and grandparents in the same house and they ran a family business of a few jewelry stores in the NYC area.

After graduating from New York University in 1958 at the age of 20, Marilyn worked as an elementary school teacher in Teaneck before first marriage. After being a stay at home mom, she began a second career in computers and continued to work in computer training until retirement. She then volunteered at The New York Museum of Natural History, where she worked in the butterfly exhibit. Marilyn was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert Schiffmann in 2021 after 34 years of marriage. Marilyn loved opera, classical music and the theater. She and Bob would go to see hundreds of shows over the years and would bring her children and grandchildren to shows as well. She loved New York City and was happy to be able to live the second half of her life blissfully married to Bob Schiffmann living on West 88th street in their brownstone.

Beloved mother, stepmother and grandmother; she is survived by her 3 children, Craig, Brian and Glenn(Diane). 2 Grandchildren Alexandra and Andrea; 3 stepchildren, Carla(Joe), Erica(Sven) and Rob as well as step-grandchildren Robert, Douglas(Jessica), Abigail and Penelope.

Marilyn was a 2-time breast cancer survivor. She touched many lives and left an impression with her style, class and grace, and she will be dearly missed by all that she enriched with her care and love. She died peacefully in her sleep Friday afternoon on January, 9, 2026.

The family will have a private service to honor her life and legacy.
