With heavy hearts but immense gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of Marguerite Elizabeth Murphy, a radiant soul who embraced every moment with love, adventure, and warmth.
Marguerite, 85, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Paterson, New Jersey. She graduated from St. Joseph High School and then went on to attend St. Joseph School of Nursing in Paterson, NJ.
Though she adored the beauty of far-off places, nothing compared to the love she had for her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, always placing the happiness and well-being of her loved ones at the center of her life.
Marguerite is survived by her beloved husband, Joseph Murphy; her brother, Bobby Murphy; her sisters, Gail Feliciano and Michelle Henderson; and her daughters, Colleen [John] Fitzpatrick, Noreen Murphy, and Doreen Dunlap. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Delanie [Robert] Brown, Parker [Jillian] Fitzpatrick, Mikayla and Maggie Fitzpatrick, and Bailey and Morgan Dunlap, as well as her beautiful great-grandchildren, Griffin, Quinn, and Rylan Brown; Connor and Grady Fitzpatrick; and Isla Arnott, who will carry forward her legacy of love and adventure.
A celebration of Maggie’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at 10:30 AM at St. Robert Bellarmine Church in Freehold, New Jersey.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Multiple Myeloma Foundation.
Services are entrusted to Jersey Shore Cremation, 43 Taylor Avenue, Manasquan, NJ.
