Margaret "Meg" Butler formerly of Sea Bright and Oceanport passed away unexpectedly at her home on Monday, Sept. 7, 2015, after years of suffering from spinal stenosis.
Meg was a lifelong resident of Monmouth County. She was a well-known and respected travel agent for many years and spent the majority of her career at the former Empire Travel in Rumson.
Meg was laugh out loud funny, loved the beach, true crime books, cooking, shopping and a tall, cold glass of pinot grigio with a splash of Sprite. Memories of Meg tap dancing in her kitchen, her famous pot roast dinners, football cakes and Easter bonnets are legendary and will forever bring a smile to the faces of the friends she leaves behind.
Meg was predeceased by her beloved parents, Tom and Connie Butler.
She is survived by her husband, Jay Halligan, and her sister, Louise Mackay and her family, as well as many longtime friends.
There will be no formal service. Donations in Meg's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Ste. 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256, would be awesome. Rest in peace our dear friend, rest in peace
