Linda Anne O'Mullan

Jan 8, 1949 — Jun 28, 2026

Lakewood, NJ

Linda Anne O’Mullan, beloved wife, mother, aunt, niece, cousin and cherished “Nonna” to her five grandchildren, passed away peacefully in her home on June 28, 2026. She was surrounded by her loving family to whom she devoted her life.

Born on January 8, 1949 at Mountainside Hospital in Glen Ridge, New Jersey to Donadella (Doris/Dolly) and Joseph Luparella. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Joseph Anthony Luparella.

She is survived by her loving husband Gene O’Mullan, her children Dawn Devenny (spouse Chris Devenny), Deborah Wayne and Brian O’Mullan (fiancée Brittany Mauriello) and her beloved grandchildren.

Linda was capped and pinned as a Registered Nurse at Mountainside Hospital School of Nursing, a distinction she carried with immense pride and honor. She went on to build a long career as an ICU, pediatric and visiting nurse, all callings that she truly loved and did with compassion. She was also, by default, her family’s most knowledgeable nurse and loudest medical advocate at many times during their lives.

It was during her time at Mountainside Nursing School that she agreed to go on a blind date arranged by her best friend Cheryl (née Hughes) Bauman and Paul Bauman. That fateful evening, she was introduced to Gene, a fraternity brother to Paul, an NJIT student and Vietnam veteran who had recently returned home. Linda and Gene fell in love and went on to be married for over 55 years.

Linda was a natural-born hostess with a gift of bringing people together. Whether gathering all of the neighborhood children for an impromptu fireworks celebration or Christmas Santa surprise in Sparta, New Jersey or hosting more elaborate parties at her home in Wall, New Jersey, she had the thoughtful ability to find a reason to celebrate everyone around her.

Her Sunday dinners were a cherished time with family as a way to celebrate her Italian heritage - she loved to cook and bake. Her legendary cheesecake alone was reason enough to pull up a chair at her perfectly decorated table.

Linda was a woman of endless talents and passions - a talented crafter and decorator, landscape artist, adventurous world traveler, a loving Mom/foster Mom to many lucky dogs, a self professed chocolate addict, family documentarian, Broadway connoisseur and a water lover with a deep passion for the beach and ocean (a gift she passed on to her children). She had a contagious laugh (i.e. “laughing fits”) and boundless energy, much to the amazement of her family.

But it was the title of “Nonna” - one she held with joy for over 26 years- that suited her best of all. She was the very best to her grandchildren, Liam, Sean, Spencer, Cruz and Everly Dawn. She always had a treat tucked in her pocketbook and a plan up her sleeve.

She had many legendary Nonna moments, including saving the day when a grandson missed the resort Easter egg hunt by pulling enough candy-filled eggs out of her pocketbook to run an entire surprise egg hunt on the spot! One time she took another grandson on a long road trip to Cincinnati, Ohio to see Paycor Stadium where she convinced a security guard to let them in to take pictures inside! Nonna had also been known to stay up for 24 hours with a grandson eating popcorn and watching Stranger Things marathons, lending her house so a teenage grandson could throw neighborhood concerts and always having another grandson’s favorite lemon cake ready to enjoy!

She also lavished her grandchildren with generous trips to Disney World, Aruba, Hilton Head Island and Shawnee Inn/Poconos where they created cherished memories.

She never missed one of her children’s or grandchildren’s sports games, MMA graduation ceremonies or school plays. She will be deeply missed.

  • Heartstring Slingshot
  • When the time comes, I will shoot her resting heart onto a fixed space in the galaxy.
  • One the naked eye can spot on a cloudless night.
  • The guiding matriarchal star with its own gravity-
  • pulling all of the other hearts that follow into its orbit.
  • They will always be protected and safe...
  • secure and happy there once again...
  • like the space around her has held the shape of them for years.
