.Salvatrice "Lillie" DiahyAGE: 97 • Point Pleasant Salvatrice Eleva Margherita "Lillie" Diahy, nee Corallo, 97 who would have been 98 on August 31st., passed away July 23, 2014 at Claremont Care Center in Point Pleasant.
Lillie was born in Manhattan to Sebastian and Carmela Corallo, who came to America from Sicily, Italy. She, her parents and 3 siblings, Frank, Mary and Joe lived in Manhattan, then moved to Gravesend, Brooklyn.
They enjoyed going to Coney Island and CT beaches. As a young women, Lillie worked as a seamstress, in Manhattan, with her sister Mary. Lillie met her husband, Sam Diahy at a dance and they married in 1947. They lived in Borough Park, Brooklyn and had two children, Albert and Ronald. Sam and Lil moved to Dongan Hills, Staten Island in 1964. They enjoyed ballroom dancing with the Staten Island Ballroom Dancers as well as trips to the Catskills and Florida. Lil was a wonderful cook and spent hours cooking for her family. She was a communicant of St. Ann's Church, Dongan Hills, SI. Sam passed away in 1993 after 46 years of marriage. Lil then moved to Manasquan, next door to her son Ronald and his family. Lil then moved to Greenbriar I, Brick, and then to Claremont Care Center in Point Pleasant.Lillie was predeceased by her parents and siblings.
She is survived by her son Albert Diahy, FL, Ronald and his wife Elaine and her beloved grandsons, Steven, Paul and Michael of Manasquan. Lil is also survived by her nieces, Carm Sosik and Mary Tonkin, nephew Joseph Corallo all of PA and many great and great-great nieces and nephews also a cousin Joseph Guardo of NY.Deepest gratitude to Claremont Care Center and to Grace Hospice for their wonderful care and kindness.
