Lawrence “Larry” Andrew Trovato passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025. He was born in Montclair, New Jersey, on October 19, 1949.
Larry was a retired corrections officer in the Florida state prison system, having served in major prisons in both Hendry and Charlotte counties in Florida. One of his major career accomplishments was graduating from the police academy with the highest honors in his graduating class.
Larry also served in the United States Air Force, receiving an honorable discharge at the end of his service.
His passion for cars was almost as great as his passion for music. Some of his favorite groups were Pink Floyd, Warren Zevon, and Roy Orbison. His favorite car was his custom-made Dodge Charger, which he loved testing for performance on the parkway. His Harley-Davidson came in a close second.
Among other things Larry enjoyed were the beach, Jackie Gleason’s Honeymooners reruns, and classic horror films such as Frankenstein and Night of the Living Dead. Father and daughter discussions very often centered around both Kelly and Larry’s interest in the Weather Channel and its sometimes ominous weather forecasts.
Larry is survived by his daughter, Kelly Safara and her husband Nick; two sisters, Caroline Roth and her husband Robert, and Judith DeFluri and her husband Michael.
He is also survived by three nephews, Brent Sindoni and his partner Daniella, Christopher Roth and his wife Vera, Shaun Roth and his wife Amanda, along with two grandnephews, Phineas Roth and Weston Roth.
Services are entrusted to Jersey Shore Cremation, 43 Taylor Avenue, Manasquan, NJ.
