Larry Rogers, Jr. passed away on January 17, 2024. He was born on Staten Island, NY on August 23, 1964 and shortly thereafter moved to Shrewsbury Harbor Estates, in Monmouth Beach, NJ. He attended the Monmouth Beach grade school and went on to Rumson-Fair Haven High School, from where he graduated in 1982.
He took a job in Sea Bright, NJ in the wholesale fish business. He used that experience wisely and eventually formed his own company. With orders in hand from many of the Monmouth County restaurants, he rented a refrigerated truck and made daily very early morning visits to the Fulton Fish Market in New York, and hand delivered the fish to the customers that same early afternoon. As his business grew he added several high end World Trade Center restaurants, which required additional trucks and hiring extra help. With business humming along nicely, the horrendous 911 event happened and forced him to close down his business.
Being very handy, he formed another company in the Monmouth Beach area doing handyman functions which quickly resulted into renovating homes in the area, and was actively involved in ongoing projects up to his untimely death.
Larry is survived by his children, Nick Rogers in Highlands, NJ and James Spalding in Dublin, Ireland, his father Larry, Sr. and his wife Judy, living in The Villages, FL, brother Kevin in Eugene, OR, half-brother Robert of Toms River, NJ, half-sister Sandy Raia in Montville, NJ, stepsister Mary Challenger (Field) in Hobe Sound, FL and grandson Nick Spalding in Dublin, Ireland. Larry was predeceased by his mother, Mary Ann Rogers, brother Michael and stepbrother Jay Challenger.
