Laura Lyn Adams Michaelson

March 3, 1957 — July 30, 2024

Laura, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 30, 2024. She leaves behind her four children, her longtime friend and ex-husband, six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, three remaining siblings, her stepfather, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Laura was a beacon of light in the lives of all who knew her.

Laura pursued her college degree in education later in life, driven by a passion for empowering those in need of extra support. She was a free spirit with a heart of gold, a devoted friend, and an ardent animal lover. Her kindness, passion, patience, and creativity touched everyone she met. Laura was fun-loving, understanding, imaginative, and beautiful inside and out. Throughout her life, she was a dedicated caregiver, always the most loving daughter, sister, mother, wife, mother-in-law, grandmother, and true friend.

She had a unique ability to make everyone around her feel seen, heard, and loved without any judgment. Laura's grace and respect shone brightly in all her interactions. Her joyful light brightened the darkest of times, and she will be greatly missed by all who had the good fortune of meeting or spending time with her. The world is a dimmer place without her radiant presence.

Laura's impact was profound on the many people who had the honor of having her in their lives, and many who knew her affectionately called her "Mama Dukes." She provided a safe space filled with respect, patience, and honesty. She loved deeply, and this was perhaps her greatest strength and, at times, her greatest fault. She was a true friend to all and a second mother to many.

One of the greatest losses is that her grandchildren will never fully experience the joy and undivided attention she lavished on everyone around her. She truly enjoyed the simple things in life and cared more for the people and animals around her than for material possessions. Her selflessness was one of her defining qualities.

She always rooted for the underdog! Putting the people around her first was one of her greatest qualities and perhaps her largest fault.

Laura lived a full and vibrant life, though it was cut too short. A celebration of her life will be held in the future to honor and remember the incredible person she was.

Services are entrusted to Jersey Shore Cremation, 43 Taylor Avenue, Manasquan, NJ.
