Kirk Elliott Stanford

Kirk Elliott Stanford, 75, of Middletown, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank. Kirk was born in Portland, Maine and lived in Middletown, NJ for the past 38 years.He attended both the University of Maine and Babson College. He was a U.S. Army veteran and an active member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. He worked for over 35 years for the US Department of Defense and retired as Chief of Staff for MTMC Bayonne, NJ in 1999. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed attending many of his granddaughter's sporting events. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Margaret "Peggy" Stanford; his son and wife, Dirk and Sophia Stanford and his granddaughter, Nicole. He also leaves a brother and wife, Tom and Sharon Stanford and his nephew and wife, David and Janna Stanford all from California. Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial gathering from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 18 at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown.
