Kathryn Ann Mechtel

Kathryn Ann Mechtel (Wisser) of Lakewood, NJ went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at the age of 81. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Charles and Ethel Wisser. She grew up in Squirrel Hill PA, attended Allderdice High School and later received her GED. She met the love of her life, James Mechtel. Together, they enjoyed an amazing 61 years of marriage. His career in engineering and computers had them moving throughout their married life. Kathy loved to sew, paint, and many other crafts. She also enjoyed games, especially bridge and was an avid reader. She enjoyed spending time at the beach with her daughters and grandchildren. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her treasurers and brought her great joy. Nothing meant more to Kathy than her family and her faith. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakewood for the past 12 years and the prior 28 years at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dover NJ. Kathy’s legacy of "family and faith" shall be carried on by her survivors. Her 6 Daughters: Nadine Cain, Marci Mechtel, Kathy Spear, Lisa and Gregg Tattersall, Angela and Eric Gehring and Wendy and Lou Nucci; and her 10 Grandchildren: Johnathon, Caitlin, Alexis, Kelly, Chelsea, Zachary, Andrew, Courtney, Dominick and Vincent; and her 2 Great-Grandchildren: Elijah and Isaac. Also surviving her is her sister Garnet Crowe and numerous nephews and nieces. Kathy was predeceased in death by her husband James, her brother Donald, and her son-in-law John Cain. Memorial service and interment will be at Jefferson Memorial in Pittsburgh, PA on March 12, 2022.
