Joyce Lynn Treharne

June 17, 1947 — May 30, 2025

Joyce Lynn Treharne (née Shultz), of Spring Lake Heights, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on May 30th, 2025. She lived a full life marked by love, laughter, boundless energy, and a deep devotion to family, friends, and community.


Born in Newark, NJ, in 1947, Joyce was the beloved daughter of Roman John Shultz and Edith Masucci. She grew up in Avon-by-the-Sea, where she attended Avon Elementary School and later graduated from St. Rose High School in 1965. She continued her education at Cabrini College, graduating in 1969 with a degree in education.


Throughout her life, Joyce embraced a wide range of roles that reflected both her industrious spirit and creative energy. As a teenager, she spent summers working at the Avon Pavilion (1962–1965) and Bell Telephone Company (1966–1969). After college, she began her professional career teaching second grade at Allenwood School from 1969 to 1972.


Joyce was not only a devoted educator, but also a passionate entrepreneur. Together with her husband, Arthur Treharne, she owned and operated HollyBrook Farms and Garden Center from 1970 to 1975, and later Quality Pack Farms from 1976 to 1985. From 1986 to 2003, Joyce returned to education , working as a nursery school teacher at Wall Methodist Childcare. During this time, she also co-owned and helped operate Evans Enterprises.


Joyce’s personal life was deeply rooted in love and family. She shared a devoted marriage of 52 years with Arthur Evans Treharne. Together they raised three children: Richard Evans Treharne (deceased), Ryan Evans Treharne, Kristen Elizabeth Dispenziere and her husband Nick. Joyce was especially proud of her cherished grandson, Jackson Evans Treharne.


After retirement, Joyce and Art spent much of their time in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, where Joyce found joy in hosting gatherings and building lasting friendships. She also treasured many trips with loved ones to Marco Island, making memories that will be fondly remembered by all who joined her.


She is predeceased by her parents, Roman and Edith Shultz, and her son Richard Evans Treharne. She is survived by her husband Arthur, her children Ryan and Kristen (Nick), and her grandson Jackson.


May the memory of Joyce Lynn Treharne bring comfort to all who knew her, and serve as a lasting reminder of a life well-lived—full of purpose, warmth, and unwavering devotion. Joyce will always be remembered with her warm, loving smile!
