John "Jack" Tully

John W. Tully, 71, of Brick Township passed away at his home on October 24, 2025. Known to many as Jack, Jack in the Back, Pop-Pop, and Dad, he was a man whose quiet reserve and natural charisma touched everyone he met. Jack’s love for the earth—and especially the ocean—was evident in the life he led. He spent his days on the water, fishing, working on boats, and finding peace in the rhythm of the tides.

A true steward of nature, Jack believed in caring for all living things, great and small. He had a special gift with animals—a true animal whisperer. Wherever he went, a pet especially dog, would somehow find him, drawn to his gentle presence and kind heart. His compassion and respect for life knew no bounds.

To know Jack was to love him. His easygoing spirit, gentle humor, and open heart made everyone feel seen and heard. He built lasting friendships and cherished his amazing group of close friends, especially the monthly dinner group, where laughter and stories flowed as easily as the wine.

Whether as a father, grandfather, friend, or neighbor, Jack was always there to lend an ear and a steady presence. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and in his deep passion for caring for the world around him. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit—like the ocean he loved—will continue to surround us all.

Jack is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kathleen Daly Tully; his daughter, Elyse Roddy, and son-in-law, Kevin Roddy; and his two adored granddaughters, Ophelia (5) and Wyatt (3). He is also survived by his sister, Aleta Cole, as well as his brothers- and sisters-in-law, and many beloved nieces and nephews on the Daly side of the family.
