Jean Woodman Brendel, 61, passed away on February 21, 2024, at Jersey Shore Hospital in Neptune, NJ after a courageous battle with Cancer. She was born in Point Pleasant, NJ, on February 12, 1963, to the late George and Emma Woodman. Jean attended Point Pleasant Beach High School (1981) & graduated from Kean University (Cum Laude) as a Certified Medical Assistant in 2004. She was a proud member of the VFW 4715 Ladies Auxiliary. In 1986 she married her former husband Jeff Brendel. As a Navy Wife (the hardest job in the Navy) she traveled the world from 1986-2012. While in Bermuda she birthed her first son, Steven Brendel; in Jacksonville Florida she gave birth to her first daughter Sara Brendel; & in California she had a second daughter, Shelby Brendel. After her husband's retirement they moved back to Point Pleasant, NJ in 2001.
Prior to Navel Travel, she worked for Shearson Lehman Brothers /American express on the 106th Floor of the World Trades Center in NYC. She then moved onto various jobs while being a Navy Wife such as Naval Air Operations secretary at NAS Bermuda until 1991. They then moved to NAS Jacksonville Fl where she was a secretary again. From there the family moved to NAS Port Hueneme, CA working at Pyramid Flowers in Oxnard, CA & in 1997 the family moved onto Key West where she worked for the military at JIATF-South Comm as a GS-10. In 2001 the family moved back to Point Pleasant, NJ & she worked as a Medical Assistant for Dr. O'Brien in Toms River & then for Dr. Marley in Point Pleasant, NJ.
In April 2018 she married her late husband Titian "Teeter" Benedetti. They enjoyed kayaking in the Manasquan River, traveling & many visits to the Working Dog Winery where Teeter played his guitar. She became a bird watcher & appreciator of all the simple things in life. Both enjoyed music but enjoying it with her daughter Shelby was a major part of their relationship after her late husband passed away in October 2018.
To all who knew her Jean was a joyous, giving & loving mother, sister, wife & friend. Her light in this world will be dearly missed by all those connected to her. She is survived by her three children, Steven, Sara & Shelby, her two brothers, Roger Woodman (Jean) & Ed Woodman; brother in-law John Cole & his two children, Jessica Arnot (Tom) and Brian Cole (Alyson) & Great Nieces & Nephew, Kayla, Riley & Molly Cole. She has the company of her sister Suzann Cole, late husband Teeter & her parents up in heaven, along with the many ancestors part of her family line.
A Celebration of Life will be held in honor of Jean on July 21, 2024, at VFW Point Pleasant Beach, NJ, at 1 PM.
