Janet Youngblood Kindred

July 17, 1937 — August 25, 2017

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Janet Carol Youngblood Kindred on August 25, 2017. Janet was born in Lakehurst in 1937 and her final moments came peacefully at the Bayville home of her son John. She is survived by her children David Kindred of Boca Raton, FL, Scott Kindred of Beatty, NV and John Kindred of Bayville, Angela Kindred Gartman of St. Petersburg, FL and Daniel Kindred of Media, PA a brother John Youngblood; her beloved grandchildren David and Emily Kindred, Dylan, Joseph, and Michael Lachman, Ian and Rachel Kindred, James Kindred and her former husband Vernon Kindred. She is predeceased by her parents Francis Boland Youngblood and Joe Wheeler Youngblood, and her brother James Youngblood. Janet was a lifelong resident of Toms River and a graduate of Toms River High School South. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree at the Ann May School of Nursing in Neptune and trained as a surgical nurse with renowned Houston surgeon Dr. Michael DeBakey during his pioneering work in cardiac surgery. After returning to Toms River she served as an RN in area hospitals until retiring in 1982, then began a 25-year career caring for profoundly disabled children at her Seward Avenue home. She loved travel, horses, music, decorating, gardening and was a gifted designer, musician, poet, and seamstress. Her spirit lives on in the lessons and values she instilled in her children: dedication to family, compassion for those in need, a fearless sense of adventure and faith in Gods plan. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. A memorial service to celebrate Janets life is being planned for October 28, 2017. Condolences may be sent to144 Red Bank Ave, Bayville, NJ, 08721
