Janet Mary Bond died peacefully of natural causes at Seabrook Village on August 11, 2020. She was born on April 9, 1934 to Mary and Alfonse Peterson in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. On June 6, 1953, Janet married Elmer Herbert (Herb) Bond, to whom she remained married until his death in 2010.
Janet dedicated her life to hard work and great adventure. As a young woman in her teens, she commuted daily to Manhattan for work and to marvel at the opportunities New York City had to offer. Janet dedicated much of her career to her work at the Board of Education in West Milford, New Jersey and Cyanamid in Wayne, New Jersey.
After raising three children, Janet and Herb traveled often, finding new adventures around the world. One of Janet's greatest joys was finding local treasures during her travels to bring home to her loved ones. Upon retirement, Janet and Herb moved to Spring Hills, Florida, where they found joy in the warm sunshine with their beloved dog Sammy.
A statuesque and dignified woman, Janet never shied away from offering style advice to the people in her life. Her unapologetic and unfiltered demeanor reflected her direct and honest nature. She will continue to be remembered for her stunning red lipstick, fierce spirit, and love of exploring the unknown.
Janet is survived by her three children: Jeff Bond (Jill), Susan Uva, and Steven Bond (Barbra); her brother Richard Peterson; her grandchildren: J.C. Uva, Jamie Uva (Sarah Schlessinger), Michael Bond, Richard Bond (Gloria), Ivan Bond, and Nicholas Bond; as well as two great-grandsons: Luke Uva and Teddy Uva.
