Oceanport, NJ

Jane Dorothy Morehouse (Albrecht), 92, of Oceanport, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 9:45 PM.

Jane was born on April 13, 1933, in Orange, New Jersey, to John Joseph Albrecht and Elizabeth Regina Albrecht (Strebinger). She grew up in New Jersey and built a life defined by devotion to family, resilience, and quiet strength.

On July 12, 1952, in Leonardo, New Jersey, Jane married George Edward Morehouse. Together they raised four sons — Mark, Scott, Stephen, and Gary — whom she loved fiercely and cared for with unwavering dedication.

She was a loving grandmother to Benjamin and Maggie; Joseph and Shanna; Stephen Jr., Christina and Amanda; and held her extended family close, including stepson Victor and his wife, Taina.

Jane is survived by her sons Scott Edward Morehouse and his wife, Cristina, and Gary Edward Morehouse and his wife, Maria.

She was predeceased by her husband, George Edward Morehouse; her sons, Mark Edward Morehouse and Stephen Edward Morehouse; her grandson, Stephen Morehouse Jr.; her daughter-in-law, Silvia Helena Morehouse; and her brother, Jack Albrecht.

Earlier in life, Jane worked for the telephone company while living in East Orange and later held various positions as an assembly technician. She was employed by Hecon Corporation in Eatontown and Vitran Corporation. Through her work, she helped provide for her family, meeting life’s demands with determination and humility.

A devoted member of the Oceanport United Methodist Church for fifty-eight years, Jane’s faith was a steady anchor throughout her life. She found comfort in worship, fellowship, and service, and cherished her church community deeply.

Jane loved gardening and cooking, especially preparing family dinners, desserts, and her well-known cheesecake and Christmas cookies. She also found peace in scenic walks and drives, particularly through Sandy Hook, where nature brought her quiet joy.

She will be remembered for her friendly spirit, her caring smile, and her readiness to share — whether a meal, a kind word, or simple presence. Jane lived without pretense, gave without complaint, and placed her family at the center of everything she did.

Her life was one of love given freely, strength carried quietly, and care extended every day.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to all who have offered love, prayers, and support during this time.
