James (Jim) Cronin, 66 of Asbury Park died suddenly Sunday, January 11, 2015 at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune due to cardiac arrest. Born in Westbury, Long Island, Jim lived in Whippany, NJ, Summit, NJ and Hoboken, NJ before moving to Philips Seaview Towers in Asbury Park. Jim graduated from Summit High School in 1967 and attended Kean College in Union, pursuing theater and arts.
Jim had a passion for acting in theater and was part of the cast in The Millburn Playhouse's 1983 production of “Can't Take It With You”, starring Jason Robards and Colleen Dewhurst. Jim acted in many productions with Stageworks/ Summit at the Kent Place School during the early 1990's including his acclaimed performance as the “created man” in their 1993 production of Mary Shelley's “Frankenstein”. But it was in Hoboken as a member of Renegade Theater where he had his most success doing what he loved. Jim was also gifted as a painter and sketch artist.
Jim is survived by his three brothers, Terrence of Lake Worth, FL, Geoffrey of Kutztown, PA, and Brian of Brooklyn, NY. He was predeceased by his parents James and Margaret (Martha) Cronin and his sister Kathleen Millington. He is also survived by 8 nieces and 1 nephew.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Jim's life on Friday, January 16, 2015 from 5pm to 9 pm at the Delicious Heights Restaurant located at 428 Springfield Avenue, Berkeley Heights, NJ.
