West Long Branch

Jacqueline Lucille “Jackie” Goodrich, née Poland, died on September 18, 2026, in West Long Branch, New Jersey, at the age of 84.

Born on May 17, 1942, in Neptune, New Jersey, Jackie built her life in Monmouth County, where she became known through her work, her family, and the many pursuits that brought her lasting satisfaction. Her years reflected steady purpose and a genuine commitment to the things she chose to do, whether in her profession, in competition, or in the activities she enjoyed in her personal time.

Jackie attended Deal Elementary School and Saint Rose High School in Belmar. She later continued her education at Monmouth College in West Long Branch, further grounding a life that remained closely tied to the communities of the Jersey Shore.

Her professional life developed over time through distinct and meaningful chapters. In the late 1970s, she worked for Hudson County News, distributing magazines to local markets and stores. In the 1980s, she earned her real estate license and began working for her former husband, James J. Boral, at Lincoln Realty in Eatontown. She later advanced still further by receiving her broker’s license and continued her career with Weichert Realtors in Shrewsbury, where she eventually retired. Her career was marked by clear progress, initiative, and a willingness to grow from one role into the next.

Outside of her work, Jackie pursued her interests with remarkable focus. She was an avid dog agility competitor and earned numerous regional and state awards in the sport. Those accomplishments reflected both discipline and enjoyment, and dog agility remained an important part of her life over the years. In keeping with her wishes, Bayshore Kennel Club is especially noted among the communities connected to her life.

Jackie also distinguished herself as a Life Master bridge player, an achievement that spoke to her concentration and skill. Earlier in life, she enjoyed tennis, skiing, and gardening, interests that added variety and pleasure to her years. Taken together, these pursuits show a life lived with movement, engagement, and sustained enthusiasm for challenge and recreation alike.

Her life also included a connection to worship at Saint Jeromes in West Long Branch and later Saint Micheals in Elberon, both of which were part of her journey over the years.

Family remained an important part of Jackie’s life. She is remembered in connection with her former husband, James J. Boral of Toms River; her children, Katherine Scheri and James Boral; her son-in-law, John Scheri of West Long Branch; her grandchildren, Jennifer Scheri of Neptune Township and John Scheri of Farmingdale; and her great-grandchild, Parker John Fullaway.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Ellen Poland (Dillon); her father, Arthur Poland; and her half-sister, Florance Ann Thompson.

Jacqueline Lucille “Jackie” Goodrich leaves the memory of a full and active life shaped by professional accomplishment, competitive spirit, and enduring personal interests. From her early education in Monmouth County to her years in real estate, from the bridge table to dog agility competition, and from tennis courts and ski slopes to the quiet work of gardening, her life was marked by dedication and steady involvement in the things that mattered to her. She will be remembered through the family members, communities, and pursuits that formed the course of her years.
