Adopted Jersey Shore local Ira M. Wallace, 82, of Manasquan died on Friday Sept. 6, 2013 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick Twsp. The Brooklyn native first vacationed here before relocating, often soaking up the sun at Carlson's Corner. He served on the Belmar Arts Council Board, did volunteer service for Holy Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church and the Manasquan Library. After years of globetrotting for work and fun, he was slowed by amyloid heart disease, a research cause he adopted. During more than 30 years he owned Travel with the Experts Ltd. and chose to stay at home reluctantly, enjoying Broadway theater and local arts. Family was his greatest pride. Survivors include his wife, Joan S. Wallace, and his son, David; daughter-in-law, Lauren Goldberg and, sister, Evelyn and nieces Susan and Ann. He was devoted to Joan's children Kim Malanga, Shawn Gillespie, Timothy and Diana Gillespie and loving grandfather to Faye, Stephanie, Nicholas and Hannah. A celebration of his life is set for Sat. Sept 21, 2013 at 12 noon at Holy Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, N. Main St. & Osborn Ave. in Manasquan.
